TIPS
Eliminate the Chain-3 "Hole" at the End
of Double Crochet Rows
If you've ever struggled with the holes that appear at the end
of a dc row, here is my favorite way to correct them. Instead of
using a ch-3 at the beginning of your rows as most patterns tell
you to do, substitute a ch-2 instead. Those holes will
disappear.
Read All The Way Through Your
Pattern Before You Start to Crochet
Reading your pattern thoroughly before beginning to crochet will
help you to discover possible roadblocks before you start,
and help you make sure that you have everything you need on hand.
Storage Solutions For
Small Items
Small, clean medicine bottles or plastic spice bottles make
excellent storage solutions for tapestry and yarn needles, row
counters, stitch markers and other small crochet tools that are
easily lost. Larger plastic bottles are ideal for crochet hooks,
pens and collapsible scissors. Some are large enough to
accommodate a small pair of embroidery scissors. When you're
ready to pack your crochet bag, these items travel easily
without fear of them
poking through your bag.
Stringing Beads
Without A Needle
To string beads on crochet thread without a needle, dip the end
in white glue, straighten it out and lay it flat to dry. You can
then use the stiffened end in place of a needle to string the
beads.
Threading a Yarn or
Tapestry Needle
To easily thread a yarn or tapestry needle without a needle
threader, wrap the yarn around the needle once so that both ends
of the yarn are facing the same direction. Pull it tightly
around the needle, then remove the needle and push the fold of
yarn through the needle's eye.
