Crocheting for charity is very near and dear to my heart. I’ve been fortunate in life, and I am grateful for that, so I feel compelled to “give back” as much as I can. Although I have stated that I like to donate my efforts within my own community, I have also donated to other organizations here in the United States and other parts of the world, and will continue to do so.
Below, I’ve listed some organizations that I feel are very worthwhile. Some I have contributed to. The rest I have it on good authority of their worthiness from the crochet community. If you know of a wonderful organization not listed here, please leave a comment, and I will consider adding them. Thanks!
Friends of Pine Ridge Reservation (Provides needed items to the Oglala Sioux nation)
Halos of Hope (501c3 not-for-profit organization providing hats to USA cancer centers)
Period of Purple Crying (Dedicated to educating caregivers and preventing child abuse)
Project Linus (Provides blankets for children in need)
The Snuggles Project (Hugs for Homeless Animals, supports local animal shelters)
Warm Up America (Distributes warm afghans and caps to the needy)
The Peyton Heart Project (Distributes handcrafted hearts to raise awareness for suicude prevention, bullying and mental health issues.)
